Double Feature

First up - News from one of my favourite Norwegian acts.

Palace of Pleasure made their debut on the Norwegian Electronica scene in 1996, and have released five albums, of which two got the Norwegian Grammy award for best dance album.(1998 and 2000 respectively.) The band have also released six singles, two EPs and contributed to several compilations, such as Nicolette: DJ-kicks and Sunday Best vol. 3.

The bands sound is hard to categorise, as P.O.P. play everything they feel like playing, but dubby electronica mixed with new wave is often a fitting description. A strong affection for analog equipment, deep bass and strong melodies can be heard in all of their music, and there is always traces of dub in a P.O.P. track, but you're never sure if the next number is dub, funk, punk or new wave. 'Another Deal' is the first single from the forthcoming Palace Of Pleasure album, scheduled for release in August/September 2008. The single will be available as download only. Buy your dose of Pleasure here

Palace Of Pleasure - Another Deal

In August 2007, the past members of German electro-rockers 'Last Call For Disco' and the postrock act 'Lux' came together to create Popular Damage. Since forming, the trio have put out various EPs and support slots for acts such as Dúné (Denmark), The Whip (UK) and The Rakes (UK).

The self-produced EP 'Top Hits of the USA' will come out on the 16th of July 2008 on the small electronic label Electroreptil as a digital-only release. The four songs including the elegantly impulsive Single 'Everybody Got Young (In 2001)' with the charismatic voice of singer Nadine Raihani, as well as their interpretation of a Tegan and Sara track,'The Con'.
